Playing against Fruta Conquerors in the title decider United were conquered by the fruity ones 1-0.

The result saw  Alpha United and Sunburst Camptown locked on 30 points at the end of the competition and it took a tie-break system to determine that Alpha United were indeed the first on goal difference.

In the remaining matches on the triple-header card which brought the curtain down on the GFA’s premier league competition Santos subdued Uprising by five goals to one in the curtain raiser while the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) lost its second place spot in the tournament by virtue of losing its match 1-2 to Sunburst Camptown in the second encounter of the evening.

Alpha began the final evening sitting atop the points’ standings with 30 points while the other two top teams GDF and Sunburst Camptown were within striking distance on 29 and 27 points respectively.

At the end of the night the beaten Alpha were still on 30 points whilst Camptown’s edging of the GDF saw them to 30.

In the feature match, Conquerors’ Seon Carr’s 27th minute shocker electrified the entire illuminated Tucville playfield as if it was the `golden goal’ of the evening that Alpha United had no answer for.

It was a goal fiesta for Santos in the opening encounter. Uprising conceded five goals in 90 minutes of torture.

They managed to get a limb free and counterattack but that was not of any great significance.

Santos scored as early as the ninth minute when Lauvex Fraser found the back of the net. Chris Camacho was next to inflict damage with a 38th minute strike as the first 45 minutes ended 2 – 0.

When play resumed a double from Jonathon Fraser (56th and 67th) and a 69th minute goal by Trevor Lewis tightened the cork.

D. Savory was the only scorer for Uprising finding success in the 35 minute.
