Guyana /Trinidad clash in Over-35 rugby encounter

Guyana’s Over-35 Rugby team will be looking to continue their dominance when they square off with their Trinidad and Tobago counterparts today in a feature Rugby match at the National Park.

The Guyanese have played unbeaten since 2005 when the series between the two countries resumed after a period of absence and Terrence Grant, Secretary of the Guyana Over-35 Rugby Football Union disclosed that the Trinidadians arrived here yesterday morning and are eager for the showdown.

The local line up will be captained by Alton Agard and will include Conrad Arjoon, Ovid Austin, Leonardo Butcher, William Blackman, Peter Campayne, Rawle Cole, Vernnon Duncan, Alair George, Walter George, Kenneth Grant-Stuart, Winston Jacobs, Wayne Lawson, Wesley Lichorish, Terrence McAlmont, Christopher O’Donaghue, Robin Roberts, Linden Rose, Lawrence Smith, Sherlock Solomon, Bertram Taylor, Raul Waren, Henry Wilkie, Gregory Wills and Troy Hip (player/coach).

The manager is Terrence Grant.

The Trinidadian side will include Wayne Baptiste, Lincoln Maharaj, Anthony Aleong, Stanfford Celestain, Anthony Loregnard, Gregory Rousseau, Alvin Maraj, Lawrence Parks, Jerry Legall, Bruce Wallace, Robert Purves, Graham Bayliss, Kelvin Guevara, Timothy Kimpton, Ronald Gittens, Chevron Neale, David Alzola, Nigel Clewett, Willet Pantor, Kenneth Moss, and Gavin Clark with Kevin Edwards as the manager.

The match will be played in three sessions of 20 minutes each with a 10 minute break between the first two 20-minute sessions.
