YCRFC organizes 7 a- side tournament for 16th anniversary

The Yamaha Caribs Rugby Football Club (YCRFC), one of Guyana’s leading football rugby teams, will be celebrating their 16th anniversary tomorrow with a seven a side one day tournament at the National Park rugby field.

Five male teams namely Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Laparkan Hornets, USA based Caribbean Cougars, a Trinidadian youth team and host Yamaha Caribs will be contesting the event.

Football rugby action is also slated for the females and to this effect, both Laparkan Hornets and Yamaha Caribs have indicated their willingness to participate in the competition, whilst the GDF are expected to make their debut in female rugby here in Guyana.

Meanwhile, the YCRFC has received support from Director of Sports in the National Sports Commission (NSC) Neil Kumar who recently donated 20 T-shirts to the club, whilst Mike’s Pharmacy and Roberts Jewellery has donated the trophies for the female and male tournament respectively.

The day’s proceedings will get underway at 1000hrs (10:00 am) with a march past of all the teams, whilst the first game will kick off one hour later.

As part of their efforts to raise funds for the club, the organizers will have a take-away lunch and barbeque on sale throughout the day whilst a well stock bar will be on hand for patrons.
