Joseph, Fraser outstanding for Achievers

Outstanding all round performances from national under-19 fast bowlers Keon Joseph and Keyron Fraser guided Achievers Sports Club to a 154 runs victory over Bath, when action in the West Berbice Cricket Association (WBCA)/Regency Suites/Buddy’s International Hotel sponsored under-23 limited overs competition continued last Sunday.

Playing at the Bath Community Centre ground, Joseph warmed up for the three limited overs trial matches organized by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) from today with an unbeaten 73 that was decorated with 12 fours and along with Raffell Estriado (45; 8×4), Sherwin Webster (45) and Asif Khan 23, saw Achievers to 279-7 from their 40 overs.

Bharie Ramoo (3-29) and Shan Kadim (2-71) were the principal wicket takers for Bath who were routed for 125 from 22 overs when they began their reply, thanks to the bowling of Fraser who grabbed 6-16, while Joseph and Khan offered support with 2-24 each, as only Kadim (23) and Amit Balkarran (24) offered resistance.

At Bush Lot, Bush Lot defeated Union by 47 runs in their encounter. Bush Lot took first strike and scored 217 from 45 overs, with Paranauth Ganess 969), Bridgeny Khemraj (28) and Khumash Ramkissoon (25) being the principal scorers.

Ranzie Bell (2-33), Lester Noble (2-35) and Leslie Jones (2-45) were the principal wicket takers for Union, who were bowled out for 170 in reply with Sherwin Peterkin (35), Bisnauth Sewnarran (23) and Odhenue Vanderstoop (23) being the principal scorers against the bowling of Khemraj Ramkissoon (4-50) and Christopher Bissoon (3-26), bowling for Bush Lot.

Number Two defeated Blairmont Community Centre by three wickets in their encounter which was played at the Number Two ground.

Blairmont were asked to take first strike and were bowled out for 103 from 29.5 overs. Only R. Budram who made 19 was able to offer some resistance to the bowling of Waheed Hassan (5-8) and Totaram Heera (2-11) bowling for Number Two.

Thanks to the batting of Hassan and Tellack Premsoof who both made 22, Number Two were able to score 104-7 from 28 overs in reply to complete the win against the bowling of Leon Saroopchand who took  2-15 for Blairmont.

In the other match that was scheduled to be played, Woodley Park Stricker failed to show up for their encounter against D’Edward B at D’Edward.
