The second stage of the 2008 Inter Guiana games will now be held from November 28-30 in French Guiana. According to the National Sports Commission, this development resulted from a request by the host country.

Initially the games were scheduled to be held from November 12-15 but none-the-less, the NSC stated that this would not in any way hamper Guyana from their primary goal which is to be crowned overall champions.

Three countries, Guyana, French Guiana and Suriname will compete in male and female athletics, cycling, basketball and volleyball.

Guyana will defend titles in male volleyball, basketball and cycling and are expected to put up a strong challenge in female cycling which will be introduced for the first time.

Guyana stand second overall behind Suriname, who claimed the football title, brought second in swimming (which was won by French Guiana) and was second to Guyana in athletics when the first leg of the games was held in the Dutch speaking country this year.

The NSC has already selected its athletes for the various sports discipline that will be contested and they mentioned that their contingent is ready and raring to go.

Heading the delegation to French Guiana will be Director of Sports, Neil Kumar, Gervey Harry (who will be responsible for the administration and logistics),  Keith French (who will be the general manager),  and chaperone Lavern Fraser Thomas.
