Shawn Bishop leads Holmes Street past Charles Street

National midfield player Shawn Bishop led Holmes Street, Tiger Bay to a 1-0 win over Charles Street as play in the Guinness “Greatest in De Street” four-a-side football competition continued with eight matches Friday evening at the Burnham Court under floodlights.
Bishop’s lone goal set up victory for the South Cummingsburg side.

West Ruimveldt Front Road were also in winners’ row when they edged out Stevedore Housing Scheme 2-1 with Nadalall and Michael Oie scoring for the winners while Kevin Holder netted for Stevedore Housing Scheme.

Aubrey Barker Road were 1-0 winners over Campbellville with Wayne Ford scoring the game’s lone goal.

Festival City and Alexander Street played to a 1-1 draw with Daniel Favourite scoring for Festival City while Rodwell Willis found the back of the net for Alexander Street.

Alexander Village squeezed past Durban Street 2-1. The scorers were Gerron Statia and Leon Yaw for Alexander Village and Omalli Nassy for Durban Street,

Leopold Street were also 2-1 winners over Kingston with the goal scorers being Rawle Adrian and Damion Elloitt for the winners and Nigel Denny for the losers.

Fourth Street received a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Sophia.  Goal scorers for Sophia were Shemroy Matthews (2) and one each for Rondel Sammy and A. Parris.

In the final match of the evening, North East La Penitence humbled Broad Street 3-1.

Timothy Telford, Devon Millington and Seon Fraser scored for the winners while Marlan Cole netted for Broad Street in a losing cause.

The tournament continued last evening with eight more matches at the Broad Street tarmac, while another eight first round matches will be played at the East Ruimveldt tarmac.

The tournament is organized by Banks DIH Ltd in association with the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport and the Georgetown Football Association.
