Azad Khan also known as ‘Bathroom Crapaud’, of Lot 20 Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of carnal knowledge.

It is alleged that between December 1 and 31 last year at Grove, East Bank Demerara, Khan had carnal knowledge of a 13-year-old girl.
Khan’s lawyer applied for bail for him on the grounds that he would return to court if granted it. The lawyer said her client had been before the court recently for a motor accident that he was involved in and he had been on $10,000 station bail and was later convicted. She said that her client had fully cooperated with the police in that case and he would do the same in this one.

However, the prosecution objected to Khan’s bail application on the grounds of the seriousness of the matter.
The magistrate subsequently ordered that Khan be remanded to prison and transferred the case to the Providence Magistrate’s Court for today.
