Prisoner jumps through court window, escapes

Another prisoner has managed to escape from police custody.
Reuben King, 21, escaped from the Suddie Magistrate’s Court by jumping through a window, after he had been charged with assault, disorderly behaviour, damage to property and the use of indecent language.

According to a police press release, the charges stemmed from an incident which occurred at Maria’s Lodge on October 22, last year. Yesterday, King appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty to answer these charges and pleaded guilty to the charges of assault and disorderly behaviour, while he entered not guilty pleas for the two other charges.  He was sentenced to six months imprisonment on the assault charges and fined $10,000 for disorderly behaviour.

It was at this stage that King escaped. He jumped through the window of the court room and eluded police ranks before heading into the Johanna Cecilia backdam.

Police are continuing their efforts to recapture him.
