Two granted bail over theft of steel from ministry

Two men, who allegedly stole several lengths of steel from the Ministry of Public Works and Com-munication, were granted bail yesterday when they appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the George-town Magistrate’s Court.

Fifty-one-year-old Charles Jones of Lot 42 Bel Air and Marlon Anthony, 32, of Lot 35 Fourth Street, Kingston both pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny.

It is alleged that on January 2, at Water Street, Kingston, Jones and Anthony stole seven lengths of steel valued $119,000, property of the Ministry of Public Works and Communication.

The magistrate subsequently granted Jones and Anthony bail in the sum of $50, 000 each and ordered that they return to court on February 11.
