Micobie gets $3M boat, engine

The Region Eight Regional Democratic Council recently handed over $3M worth of equipment to the Micobie Council.

According to a press release from the region a 15hp Johnson outboard engine and a 20ft aluminium boat were handed over to Toshao Majuna Edwards. Regional Chairman Senor Bell and members of the Council attended the brief ceremony.

In his address at the ceremony Bell urged the Council to ensure that due care is taken with the machines. He also called on the Council to render as much assistance as possible to the health outpost and the school.

Bell said the boat and engine are to be used to supplement the tedious and dangerous trips that are sometimes taken to facilitate the movement of medical and other supplies from Mahdia to Micobie. He said the equipment is especially timely in the light of the recent rainfall and the deterioration of the roadway.

Meanwhile Regional Executive Officer Ishwar Dass said the donation reflects “the thrust for development and for enhancing the ability of the people to perform even better.”
