Chip and paint man remanded over wounding of ex

A 39-year-old chip and paint labourer of 97 Second Street, Agricola, on Thursday pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.

It was alleged that on January 14 at Georgetown, Ossie Savory, a father of one, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Simone Kelman.

Kelman told the court that she had once shared a relationship with the defendant and now that she has decided to move on with her life, he is threatening her.

“My worship, dis man does tell me how he gon kill me an kill meh family and bun down de house an all kind a tings. He even attack me with a cutlass before.”

Kelman said also that on the day in question “he push me down on some bottles and I get cut on meh hand an suh.”

When Savory was given a chance to respond he said, “My worship, me an she had a lil talking an a scuffle start.” He further stated that, “right whey we had de lil scuffle had some bottles an she fall on them an get cut but me aint push she or nothing, she fall down on de bottles.”

He was refused bail. His matter was transferred to Court Three for January 22.
