Pressman charged with stealing Chronicle newspapers

A pressman who allegedly stole a quantity of daily newspapers from Guyana National Newspapers Limited (GNNL) was granted bail on Friday when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Rickford Blair, 43, of 1980 Nutmeg Street, Festival City, pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny.

It is alleged that on January 13, Blair stole 232 Daily Chronicle newspapers valued $13,920 from GNNL.

Blair’s lawyer Mohamed Zafar applied for bail stating that his client had been a pressman at the GNNL for 26 years.

The magistrate subsequently placed Blair on bail in the sum of $25,000 and transferred the case to Court Six for February 27.
