Former ERC commissioner Khan passes away

Former Ethnic Relations Commissioner Shaffeek Khan passed away yesterday morning at his daughter’s residence at New Providence, East Bank Demerara.

The ERC said in a press release that Khan had in 2008 replaced the late Commissioner Shahabudin Mc Doom as the representative of the Muslim community on the ERC, but due to ill health he resigned in August last year.

The release said further that Khan possessed a wealth of knowledge as a retired public servant having served the Guyana government for over 30 years.

He contributed immensely to the work of the ERC and will be remembered for his sound advice and guidance, the release added.
The ERC extended its condolences to his wife, children and other relatives.
