GWI employees held over stolen diesel

Five employees attached to the Guyana Water Inc branch in New Amsterdam, along with two security guards are currently in police custody following the disappearance of a quantity of diesel from the office.

Stabroek News was told that on Tuesday at around 5 pm 530 gallons of diesel was discovered missing from the Lot 53 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam Office.
The matter, however, was only reported to the police on Thursday.
