Prisoner collapses in infirmary, dies

An inmate of the Georgetown Prison died yesterday morning shortly after he was found in an unconscious state in the infirmary.

According to Director of Prisons, Dale Erskine, Winnick Phillips, was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital but died shortly after admission.

Erskine said Phillips had been ailing for some time and was in and out of the prison’s infirmary. He said the prison service is nevertheless awaiting a post-mortem report to determine what caused the man’s death.
