Gunmen raid Sheriff St eatery

Gunmen on Saturday night robbed the Kamboat Restaurant, located on Sheriff Street of over $377,000 in cash and jewellery from employees and patrons before escaping.

The incident occurred at about 9:20 pm and two staff members and three patrons were attacked and robbed by the three men, who were all armed with handguns.

Police, in a release said that investigations revealed that cashier Sabrina Gobin and waitress Claudia Chase along with three patrons were in the restaurant when the three armed men entered and held them at gunpoint. It is reported that they then took away a total of US$1,000, $177,000 Guyana currency, a cell phone and a quantity of jewellery from the victims and escaped in a waiting motor car, the police said.

The release stated that as the bandits were escaping, their vehicle struck down motorcyclist Rabindra Lall of Campbell Street, Campbellville. He was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital for treatment.
