Prisoner wounded female warden – court told

An inmate of the Camp Street prison who allegedly unlawfully wounded a female prison officer was remanded yesterday when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Dwight De Silva, 23, of 105 Third Street, Agricola, East Bank Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful wounding.

It is alleged that on January 30 De Silva unlawfully wounded Dasley Grandison.
However, De Silva said, “me aint even know whuh I come to court fuh” and added that he did not wound Grandison.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that he appear again in court on February 12.
