Lusignan driver stole vehicle parts in Black Bush – court told

A  driver of  Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, who allegedly drove to Black Bush Polder, Corentyne and  stole vehicle parts totalling $1.7M was remanded  to prison  by Magistrate Chandra Sohan last Friday.

Ramsook Ramdeo, 46, has been charged jointly with vehicle owner Mohammed (one name) known as ‘Black Boy’ who  escaped when the police put up a roadblock at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice last week.

Assistant Superintendent  of Police  Fazil Karimbaskh objected to pre-trial liberty for the accused on the grounds that police are currently investigating several matters in which the defendants  are  fingered in machinery theft.

Police said between January 9 and 10 at Yakusari, South, the duo stole one tractor starter, a fuel pump, an alternator, a grease gun and an injector line totalling $458,000, property of Ralph Juman.

Between February 1 and 2 last at Mibicuri, also in Black Bush,   the defendants stole a tractor gear box, a fuel pump and  a truck starter valued $800,000, property of Tulsie Ramsingh.
On the same date at Johanna South, also in the agricultural district, the defendants  defrauded Yahezza Azumulla  of two tractor tyres valued $500,000.

The matter has been transferred to the Mibicuri Court for  February 17.
