Man accused of shooting at two others granted $100,000 bail

A man, who allegedly discharged a loaded firearm at  two men, was granted $100,000 bail on Monday when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Gregory Watson, 54, of  148 Campbellville Housing Scheme was not required to plead to the indictable charge of discharging a loaded firearm at two men.

It is alleged that on February 6, Watson discharged a loaded firearm at  Gavin Hinckson and Fitzroy Gibson with intent to maim, disfigure or cause them actual bodily harm.

However, Watson’s lawyer stated that no firearm or spent shells were  recovered from the alleged incident. He noted that Hinckson and Gibson never gave  the police any statement that they were shot at.

He further stated that there was insufficient evidence against his client and the case should be dismissed. The defence attorney then applied for bail.

Prosecutor Desiree Fowler made no objections to bail and it was subsequently granted in the sum of $100,000.  Watson has to return to court on February 25.
