Capping Lethem roads to reduce dust problem – Lall

Efforts are being made to address the dust problem in Lethem, says Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Kellawan Lall.

The minister told the National Assembly that the major roadways in Lethem are currently being capped and this is expected to significantly reduce the dust problem in the area.
Lall stated that during the dry season the uncapped roadways are sprinkled with water. He added that humps will be placed at strategic places to reduce speed of vehicles, which will also help to ease the problem.

Meanwhile the minister also informed the National Assembly that the electricity supply to the dormitories at the Aishalton Secondary School will be restored shortly. He said that this would be dependent on the repairs to the generator, which hopefully will be operated by Thursday.

Lall was at the time responding to questions raised by PNCR-1G MP Volda Lawrence about the dust problem in Lethem and the absence of electricity to the dormitories at the Aishalton Secondary School.
