Hague man remanded over 17-kg cocaine bust

Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday remanded a man who allegedly had over 17 kilograms (kg) of cocaine in his possession.

Harrykumar Sukhraj of Hague, West Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking when it was read to him at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on March 1 at Ridge Village, Wakenaam, Essequibo Islands Sukhraj had in his possession 17 kg 45 grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused was refused bail and the matter transferred to the Wakenaam Magistrate’s Court for March 16.
