Gunmen raid Hotel Tower

Gunmen attacked and robbed three employees of over $100,000 cash and other items at Hotel Tower on Wednesday night, police said in a press statement yesterday.

According to the release, three men all armed with handguns robbed housekeeping manager Gerald Charles, receptionist Malika Lyken and electrician Chris Profitt of $111,000 cash, two cellular phones and a quantity of  jewellery. Investigations, the police said, have so far revealed that at approximately 10 pm on Wednesday the armed men entered the Main Street hotel’s lobby, held the three employees at gunpoint and relieved them of the mentioned articles.
When Stabroek News visited Hotel Tower yesterday afternoon several employees informed this newspaper that they knew nothing about a robbery. The hotel’s receptionist told Stabroek News that management would not be available to comment on the matter until this morning.
