Chinese delegation to explore investment here

A delegation of high-ranking officials from Chongqing City, China is expected to visit Guyana by mid-June to explore business and investment opportunities in several sectors.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Choo An Yin, Charge d’Affaires of the Guyana Embassy in Beijing met with Vice Mayor of Chongqing City Zhou Mubing recently to discuss the visit. The delegation which will be headed by Mayor of Chongqing City Wang Hongju will include other high-ranking officials from the Chongqing Municipal Government and the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office as well as members of the private sector. The group is expected to explore opportunities in the mining, timber, agricultural and industrial sectors here.

Chongqing City is a port city with a population of 30M. It is China’s third largest centre for motor vehicle and the largest for motorcycle production. It is also one of nine major centres for iron and steel production in China and one of three major aluminium producers, GINA said. The headquarters of the Bosai company is based in Chongqing City.
