Sophia man beaten after burglary

A badly injured man, allegedly beaten by North Ruimveldt residents following a suspected robbery in the area, was discovered on Kaikan Street by police yesterday morning.

Police in a press release issued last evening said they “are investigating an incident that occurred during the early hours”  of yesterday morning in North Ruimveldt during which Dexter Lynch, 37, was allegedly assaulted by residents following a suspected burglary on a house in the area.

Responding to a report received at about 5.15 am yesterday, the press statement said, police ranks found Lynch, a resident of Sophia, lying on the roadway at Kaikan Street with wounds to his face and unable to walk.

Lynch, according to the police, was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted.
Stabroek News learnt from hospital sources that Lynch was admitted to the Male Open Ward A2 at GPHC where he remained in a stable condition up to late yesterday afternoon.

Lynch, sources said, had abrasions to his face and body but sustained no broken bones.
