Armed bandits grab $1.5M from housewife

Two armed men confronted a woman in her Best Village, West Coast Demerara home yesterday and, after tying her up with duct tape, escaped with close to $1.5 million.

Police were still looking for the two bandits up to press time last evening.

According to a press release, around 9 am housewife Jenny Bhoowah was in her home when she was confronted by the two men armed with a handgun and a knife.

Investigations revealed that the men entered the house through an unlocked door.

The release said they tied her up with duct tape and then reportedly took away US$5,000 and $450,000 and escaped.

Investigations are continuing.
