Guard stole DPP’s tape deck

A 19-year-old security guard attached to the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that between March 9 and March 11 at Georgetown,  Nicholas Waddell of 20 Perry Street, Tucville, Georgetown stole one tape deck valued $15,000 from the car belonging to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Shalimar Ali-Hack.

According to the Prosecutor,  Police Corporal Munilall Seetatram, “On the day in question the DPP’s driver had parked the car on Woolford Avenue in the vicinity of the CIOG, secured it and both left.” Upon returning, the prosecutor stated, the tape deck was discovered missing and subsequently it was not recovered.
Waddell who was unrepresented was placed on $25,000 bail and he has to return to court on March 31.
