Sugar estate labourer remanded over attempted buggery charge

A 19-year-old labourer of Wales Sugar Estate was yesterday not required to plead to the indictable charge of attempted buggery when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on March 23 at West Bank Demerara (WBD), Sutesh Narine of 241 Bell West, WBD, attempted to commit buggery on a nine-year-old boy.

Narine was denied bail and remanded to prison. His matter was transferred to the Wales Magistrate’s Court for March 30.
