Mabura murder suspect still at large

Almost a month after a security guard was stabbed to death at Demerara Timbers Limited (DTL) at Mabura following a row over money, police are yet to apprehend the attacker who they believe is hiding out somewhere in the interior.

Crime Chief Seelall Persaud told Stabroek News on Thursday that they are still investigating the death of 43-year-old Mineo Holder.

He said that they have been unable to arrest the suspect, who was the man’s co-worker.

On February 20, the Lot 23 Silver City, Wismar resident sustained a gaping wound to the abdomen and died before receiving medical attention.

Police had said in a statement the day after the incident that they are investigating the murder, which occurred around 7:05pm.

Investigations revealed that the body of Holder, was found in the doorway of the quarters of another security guard with whom he had earlier had an argument over a sum of money. The body had stab wounds to the abdomen, the release had added.

According to the man’s relatives it was Holder’s money the two argued over and there were reports that he was left lying on the ground for over three hours and that his body was dragged back to his sleeping quarters and placed on a bed.
