Man remanded over ganja trafficking in Mazaruni

A man who was allegedly found with a quantity of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking was remanded to prison yesterday by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Stephen Cappel pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that he had 729 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking in the Mazaruni Area, Essequibo on May 23.

Police Prosecutor Robert Clemment requested that Cappel be remanded to prison and that the matter be transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court and the magistrate so ordered.

Cappel will appear at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on June 9.
