Accused horse cart man says was asleep when windshield damaged

A 21-year-old horse cart operator yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer the charge of unlawful and malicious damage to property.

It is alleged that on June 11 at Georgetown, Eshwar Singh also known as ‘Two Feet’ of 26 Hill Street, Albouystown unlawfully and maliciously damaged one car windshield, belonging to Mohamed Shahabadeen.

Singh pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.
The defendant told the court that he has no idea of the charge that had been brought against him by the virtual complainant (VC). He said further that when the incident allegedly occurred he was asleep.

The VC said, however, that he saw when the defendant threw a brick that broke the windshield of his vehicle.
The unrepresented Singh was later placed on $30,000 bail and has to return to Court Three on July 14.
