Antigua rocked by violent deaths

(Antigua Sun) – The police are investigating two homicides that occurred within hours of each other on Thursday; the first was in All Saints and the second in Fort Road.

Dead are 41-year-old Lyndon Browne of Mac Pond and 21-year-old Dwayne Nedd of Villa.
Browne’s death reportedly occurred around noon at his home in All Saints. He is suspected to have been the victim of a burglar, whom he might have come upon suddenly. He was allegedly chopped a number of times about the body and was found in the living room by his wife, Holly and her brother when they arrived some time after noon.

Reports are that Holly received a mysterious call, advising her to go home immediately. Her husband had dropped her to work and had returned home. Unable to reach her husband via phone, she decided to go home and asked her brother to accompany her.

She is reported to have been unable to enter through the front door and when getting no response from rapping on the door, she peeped through the window and saw her husband’s body propped up against the door. Blood is said to have stained several areas throughout the house. A number of items, including personal effects, are said to be missing and clothes thrown about. Louvres were missing from the back kitchen door, through which the perpetrator likely entered.

Family members believe that it is connected to another theft at the home earlier this week when a few items were stolen. They believe the thief or thieves returned.

The police reportedly found a cutlass in the bushes, but have made no arrests as yet.
Browne was employed as an insurance agent at CLICO Insurance and was the father of four. His mother-in-law Marie Browne Theodore said that he was a lovely husband and son-in-law.

Grief tore through the family members, friends and neighbours who gathered at the scene, with Browne’s wife at one point collapsing on the lawn outside the aqua and white house.

Meanwhile, Nedd was stabbed to death at the Fort Road basketball court around 4.30 pm by a 13-year-old grade seven primary schoolboy. The two were reportedly fighting.

Nedd’s body was discovered in a corner of the court. The teenager was taken to the St John’s Police Station by his mother and is currently in police custody.

Thursday’s deaths bring to nine the number of homicides in Antigua and Barbuda for the year. Six others have been gun-related while a teenaged girl was a victim of strangulation.
