She died while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

According to reports reaching Stabroek News, 23-year-old Colin Blackman of 41 Roxanne Burnham Gardens was proceeding east along Middle Road, La Penitence on his motorcycle when he collided with Escorce who was  going in the opposite direction.

Blackman has since been charged with causing death by dangerous riding and was remanded to prison on Tuesday when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

When this newspaper visited Escorce’s lot 4 West Road, West Ruimveldt home yesterday, her sister Juliet Basdeo was brought to tears as she recounted what she was told about the accident by an eyewitness.

Basdeo said that her sister had left home to attend church on the evening of her death and was returning home sometime after 8 pm when she was struck down by a motorcycle.

As she sobbed, Basdeo said that it was a public-spirited citizen who had rushed her sister to the hospital where she died as doctors were attending to her. She added also that according to a post-mortem examination (PME), the woman died of haemorrhage.

Basdeo said that Escorce was a loving and caring sister who lived to serve God. “She took serving God seriously and hardly missed church. She lived to serve him and died serving him,” she said.

The mother of one was laid to rest on Tuesday.
