Ganja trafficking accused denied bail

A man who allegedly had in his possession a quantity of cannabis was on Monday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on July 24 at Georgetown, Leon Garraway had in his possession 65 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Attorney-at-law Adrian Thompson who represented the accused made an application that bail be granted in a reasonable sum on the grounds that his client has no previous convictions, has a fixed address and poses no risk of flight.
The prosecution objected and the defendant was later remanded to prison until August 5.
