West Ruimveldt stabbed ex in foot

-court hears

Colin Miller was yesterday remanded to prison shortly for allegedly threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and later stabbing her in the foot.

Miller, 37, of Lot 48 West Ruimveldt, pleaded not guilty to the charges of threatening language and unlawful wounding when acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read them to him.

He denied that on September 19 at West Ruimveldt he used threatening language to Esther Grant. He also denied that on September 23 he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Grant.

The prosecution informed the court that Miller was before the court for a dangerous driving matter prior to this case.

However, Grant, who was also present in court, stated that after Miller accused her of cheating on him he threatened to burn down her house and kill her. She said that on September 23, she and Miller were involved in an argument which resulted in him dealing her several blows to her face and stabbing her to her left foot with a scissors.

She later made a report to the police station and Miller was arrested and later charged.

Meanwhile, Miller stated that Grant was the one who accused him of cheating on her. He said that he had reconciled with Grant and she had told him she was going to resolve the threatening language case at the police station.

He said that on September 23 he and Grant got into an argument over a phone call that she received and she hit him in his eyes and ran out of the house.

He explained that it was while Grant was attempting to run through a picket fence that she hit her foot and was injured. He reasoned that if he really had a scissors in his hand and had attempted to stab her, the scissors would not have caught her foot.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that he be remanded to prison and that he return to court on October 2.
