GWI delivering water to affected East Coast communities

The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) has started delivery of water by way of tankers to East Coast Demerara communities whose supply has been affected by the electricity shortfall.

In a press release GWI said it is collaborating with the Civil Defence Commission to conduct relief exercises in areas such as Vryheid’s Lust, Annandale, Sand Reef, and Non Pariel. Meanwhile, GWI continues to partner with the Guyana Power and Light in the interest of restoring normal service in the shortest possible time.

GWI also urges the public to desist from breaking water mains and service connections while it works to resolve these issues. The company apologises for the inconvenience caused and advises customers to contact its Customer Service Call Centre at telephone number 227-8701 for more information.
