Recruitment agency, BIT host job fairs

The Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA) and Board of Industrial Training (BIT) have begun holding job fairs to advertise the training available at the BIT and encourage young people to register with the CRMA.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) the fairs are targeting persons between the ages of 18 and 25 years who are seeking employment and skills training.

The job fairs are expected to be ongoing and will be advertised in the media. Meanwhile, interested persons can access the service weekdays at the CRMA head office in Camp Street during regular working hours.

In a press release the CRMA said this exchange was established to facilitate improved functioning of the labour market, bringing employers and employees together with a view to finding job placements for workers.

CRMA registers all unemployed persons who are actively seeking employment; maintains records of notified vacancies; matches job-seekers with vacancies; arranges interviews and places unemployed persons into gainful employment.

GINA said that from 2004-2008 10,117 persons had registered for placement and 7,030 had found employment.
