Linden therapeutic spa to open soon

Linden’s own therapeutic spa and health centre will soon open its doors to the public boasting three doctors’ offices, a lab, a health food store, pharmacy and recreational facilities.

A coat of light green paint and other finishing touches are being done on the facility, located opposite the Region 10 Democratic Council office building at the Mackenzie waterfront in time for a month-end opening.

After almost a year of construction and an investment of about $50M, nutritionist Dr  Joseph Haynes told Stabroek News last week that they are currently awaiting the arrival of therapy and body management equipment from overseas and the installation of computerised equipment for the security systems since the building will be fully monitored.

Haynes explained that the equipment was “all bought and shipped” and the facility will offer care for persons who have suffered strokes and those who have difficulties with their limbs in addition to regular massage therapy. Equipment for the Jacuzzi has already been installed along with equipment to assist with burning cholesterol and to reduce blood pressure together with the use of medication. The latter equipment is new on the market, Haynes noted.

The building will also boast a branch of the Eureka laboratory and will house clinics for three practising doctors: a general practitioner, dentist and obstetrician. Haynes said at least two of the three doctors will be from the city. “We want to be broad,” he said, regarding the services of three doctors.

Additionally, the health food store will cater to women, men and children. It will also offer purified water and recreational sports like table tennis, air hockey and games for kids, along with a weekend theatre. Haynes said Lindeners have already said they “they can’t wait for it to open.”

Haynes who also operates secondary level private school, The Linden School of Excellence, is not new to the entrepreneurial scene in Linden.

His entrepreneurial footprint started in Linden in 1993; with a health food outlet and clinic in Mackenzie which was later moved to the city, at 145 Fifth Street, Alberttown in 1996. He said over the last 10 years he has travelled to Linden once per week to attend to the health food outlet which will again be based in Linden. Haynes said he acquired the plot of land where the spa is located in the early 1990s. (Nicosia Smith)
