Soured doctor, nurse affair leads to damage charges

A nurse and a doctor who once shared a relationship yesterday took each other to court over matters of unlawful wounding and malicious damage to property. They were both sent on their own recognisance when they appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on October 7 at Georgetown, Carol Joseph, 22, a nurse of Number 22 Village, Bel Air, West Coast Berbice unlawfully wounded Ademola Biala. On the same day also, it is alleged that Joseph maliciously damaged one laptop computer valued $350,000 property of the said Ademola Biala.

Allegedly on the said day, Biala, 34, of Garnett Street is accused of maliciously damaging one laptop computer valued $350,000 property of the Carol Joseph.

They both pleaded not guilty to their respective charges when they were read to them by the Acting Chief Magistrate.

Joseph’s attorney informed the Court that his client did not wish to continue with the matter against Biala, but made it clear that all she wanted was to be fully compensated for the damage caused to her computer.

According to Joseph’s attorney, the entire issue stems from a case of jealously.

He declined to provide more details saying that the truth of the matter will be revealed at the time of the trial.

They were placed on self-bail and ordered to return to court on October 29.
