Ansa McAl launches construction products branch

Ansa McAl, which is known locally for beverages and household products, will be exploring its chances in the construction sector with the launching of its Construction Solutions branch.

The launching took place yesterday at the company’s Beterverwagt-ing headquarters where it was disclosed that the business entity decided to embark on the venture locally after recognizing a construction boom in Guyana with the building of schools, hospitals, homes and roads. The company will be importing products such as clay roof tiles, steel and aluminum windows and doors from Trinidad and Tobago.

Sector head-Manufacturing, Trinidadian Kelvin Mahabir told those gathered that over the years the company has recognized Guyana as having one of the best markets in the region which continues to prosper despite the global economic crisis. He said Ansa McAl has been known for its popular Carib Beer but he noted that the company has more to offer to the Caribbean. He said the company, which has been in existence for over 127 years has been one of the oldest manufacturing entities in the Caribbean.

Mahabir said that the products offered by the company will be of high quality and they will be accompanied by technical and service support. He told Stabroek News yesterday that the products are manufactured in Trinidad and Tobago but the company is examining the prospects of creating manufacturing facilities locally.
Jose Nivet, Sector Head-Distribution, who is also based in Trinidad, said that Ansa  McAl has been in Guyana for some 16 years now and the entity has shown commitment  towards investing in the development of Guyana. He said after driving along the roadways of Guyana, he has recognized the decision of the Government in building housing schemes and he believes his company has products to meet various aspects of construction to the satisfaction of customers.

Nivet also told the gathering that he has been in Manaus, Brazil recently and was given assurances by officials there that they are committed to establishing trading links with the Caribbean through Guyana and he noted that the official opening of the Takutu Bridge in Region Nine will complement  such  arrangements.
He said he has seen certain business areas evolving in Guyana over the years as he notes that, contrary to what many other Caricom neighbours may think of Guyana, this country has a lot of persons with positive attitudes which be notes will bring development to Guyana.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of the company, Beverly Harper noted that customers are extremely important to the company and she said that the entity is offering products which will benefit all of Guyana in the future. She said the company considers it a privilege in contributing to the Gross Domestic Product of Guyana.
A series of symposia will be initiated by Ansa McAl in the near future where advice and information on the construction products will be offered to customers.
