Wismar stall holder remanded over ganja trafficking

Stall holder Earl Darrel of Half Mile, Wismar Four Corners was denied bail yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court accused of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

It was alleged that on March 20 police ranks searched  his shop at the popular Four Corners, Wismar and found 20 parcels of cannabis which was later weighed at a total of 17 grammes.

His attorney told the court that the two witnesses who testified in the matter, constable Rayon Wilson and police officer 18064 Gavin Barker had given conflicting statements, especially relating to the seal numbers placed on the narcotics.
The attorney argued that the case should be struck out based on the conflicting evidence and considering that his client had already spent in excess of three months in prison.

The matter will be called again on July 17 when the prosecution is expected to reply.
