President’s College celebrates performance record

Prime Minister Samuel Hinds lauded the performance record of President’s College students when the Golden Grove based school celebrated its 24th anniversary and 19th graduating ceremony recently.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Hinds lauded the graduates on their achievements and the school’s performance records. He then challenged them “to move to greater heights and build a stronger future.” The prime minister said government had allocated $20.4 billion in the education sector this year in keeping with its plan to provide education for all children.

GINA said the school has recorded exceptional performances at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency examinations (CAPE) over the years and particularly this year. At the CSEC exams all students who wrote five or more subjects achieved grades one to three and in 21 of 27 subject areas. It also achieved 100% passes at CAPE and the students collectively generated a 78.3% pass rate.
Patrice Douglas was named top CAPE student and valedictorian while Afua Alder was named top CSEC graduating student. Alder also copped several trophies and monetary awards for her outstanding performance after she earned 10 grades ones and two grade twos.
