Minister Bermudez Merizalde will be accompanied by a three-member delegation, a press release from Guyana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The Colombian Foreign Minister will meet with Guyana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett and engage in discussions on bilateral relations; issues related to the strengthening of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS); and other regional and hemispheric issues.
Minister Bermudez Merizalde is the current chairman of the Ministerial Council of the ACS, the release noted.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday the Colombian Foreign Minister will meet with Secretary General of CARICOM, Edwin Carrington, before departing the same day.
The visit of the minister comes amid growing tensions with Venezuela along the border with Colombia.
