PC to host schools basketball tournament over next three days

– replaces annual relay fair

President’s College, through its Physical Education Department,  will run off an eight schools basketball tournament over the next three days, starting today.

According to a press release, this tournament will be the most competitive and anticipated sporting event the school has ever staged and it is being used as a replacement for their annual relay fair, taking into account the inclement weather.

The tourney, which will involve teams from Golden Grove Secondary, Cove and John Secondary, Bladen Hall Multilateral, St. Stanislaus College, Marian’s Academy, Queen’s College, Bishops’ High and host President’s College will bounce off from 2:00pm today at the St. Stanislaus College court.

A total of six games will be played over the three days of the knockout competition with the first two games scheduled for today. The other four games which will include the final will be played at the President’s College court on Wednesday and Thursday.

Trophies and medals will be awarded to the winning and runner-up teams while the tournament’s most valuable player (MVP) will be decorated with a special medal in the inaugural tournament that is being sponsored by National Milling Company (NAMILCO), Jerrick’s Funeral Home, Da Silva’s Optical, and the Trophy Stall.
