BHS and QC to meet in Mashramani cricket match today

– Harper to bowl first delivery

After an absence of 20 years, National Sports Commission in collaboration with the Allied Arts Department of the Ministry of Education, will be hosting a 40-overs a side cricket match involving Berbice High School (BHS) and Queen’s College (QC) today at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence from 10:00hrs.

According to Director of Sports of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Neil Kumar, this game which will be played on the same pitch that was used for the West Indies/ Sri Lanka match, will be keenly contested as both teams will be looking to prove their superiority.

“This game will be played on the same pitch that was used for the West Indies/Sri Lanka test match at the Guyana National Stadium. It has been awhile since these two teams have met in an encounter such as this and they will be looking to prove their superiority over each other.”

Kumar further stated, “Former Guyana and West Indies all rounder and co-incidentally former student of Queen’s College Roger Harper will bowl the first ball of the match after both teams are met by the Ministers of Culture, Youth and Sport and Education respectively.”

The Ministry of Education will take care of the meals for the teams and respective officials.

The teams are as follows:

Queen’s College from: Neil Barry (captain), Sunil Rupee, Tejprakash Persaud, Javed Rasheed, Carlyle Collins, Feaz Mustapha, Avion Rodrigues, Jimol Marks, Larry Carryl, Jeremy Singh, Steven Rutherford, Dwayne Edwards, Khemraj Rupee, Tuan Thierens and Kareem Critchlow.

Berbice High School from: Tregon Henry (captain), Kareem Hinds, Brian Hussain, Hardat Singh, Kirk Jhethoo, Brandon Balkumar, Joylon Campbell, Udesh Imrit, Kevon Jawahir, Derwin Clarke, Horshelle Gilead, Akeem Trellis, Cledwin Cort, Judason Bess and Kumar Brijlall.
