Referee Dianne Ferreira-James and Assistant Referee Nykasie Liverpool are in Algarve, Portugal attending a FIFA workshop for women referees.
The workshop which commenced on February 26 is being held to prepare referees for upcoming FIFA tournaments such as the 2011 World Cup in Germany and the Under-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago in 2010.
Reports coming out of Portugal are that the Guyanese officials have excelled in the fitness test which was held on Monday and are also performing creditably in other aspects of the workshop. On completion today, they will turn their attention to the 2010 Algarve Cup which will run from March 1-4.
Another Guyanese official, Assistant Referee Venton Mars will officiate in the CONCACAF Under-20 Championship in Trinidad and Tobago from March 5-15. The eight-team tournament will determine the Confederation’s four qualifiers for the Under-20 World Cup which will be held in Egypt later this year.
