Jamaica face tricky assignment against CCC – 11th round

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Jamaica will look to extend its lead in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) regional four-day competition, when they face the feisty Combined Campuses & Colleges in their 11th round match, starting today at Sabina Park.

The Jamaicans lead the standings with 84 points, following two straight victories over Trinidad & Tobago at home and Barbados on the road, and another victory would almost guarantee that they regain the title.

The CCC have no chance of winning the title and are second-last on 30 points, following their second victory of the season over second-placed Windward Islands.

The Jamaicans prevailed by 51 runs in the first leg match in the third round of the competition in a low-scoring match, where neither side totalled more than 200.

This is expected to change with the Jamaicans sensing that the Headley-Weekes Trophy for winning the competition is within their grasp.

Off-spinner Bevon Brown and fast bowler Jason Dawes have been added to their squad to replace left-arm spinner Nikita Miller and fast bowler Daren Powell.

Miller and Powell are unavailable, after they were selected in the West Indies squad for the first two One-day Internationals against England in Guyana.

The CCC have travelled with the same squad that went to St. Vincent and stopped the Windwards.

They will be hoping that they can do something similar against the powerful Jamaicans and on their way to a strong finish to the season.
