Rampant Jamaica press home advantage as CCC totter

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Masterminded by their bowlers, runaway leaders Jamaica were already closing in on first innings points against Combined Campuses and Colleges on the opening day of their WICB Regional four-day clash yesterday.

Leg-spinner Gavin Wallace (3-19) and pacers Dave Bernard Jr (3-32) and Andrew Richardson (3-34) all claimed three wickets apiece to rock CCC for 171 all out after they won the toss and opted to bat in the 11th round contest at Sabina Park.

Out-of-favour Test batsmen Brenton Parchment (41 not out) and Donovan Pagon (33 not out) then batted solidly to guide the hosts to 78 without loss at the close, a mere 93 runs adrift of first innings points with all their wickets still in tact.

The day could have been worse for CCC after Richardson and Bernard ripped through the top order to leave the visitors tottering on 27 for five early in the morning session.

Richardson bowled opener Kyle Corbin without scoring with the score on one and then had Omar Phillips caught at the wicket for 16 with the score on 22, as he took care of both openers.
