Linden Tech, Linden Foundation runaway basketball winners

Linden Technical Institute (LTI) and the Linden Foundation Secondary School are the first two schools to record victories in this year’s Victory Valley Royals inter-school basketball tournament.

Playing at the McKenzie Sports Club hard court yesterday, LTI eased past Wismar Christianburg Secondary (Multi) 48-13 while LFS made light work of Wisburg Secondary 57-18.

Playing in the opening game, LFS held an unassailable 16 points lead (27-11) at the end at the first half against Wisburg and then  turned up the heat in the second half to seal victory.

Once again Abu Mohammad turned in a good performance, netting a game high 19 points while Godfrey La Rose had 17. For the losers, only Maverick Angel showed any resistance by finishing the game with 13 points.

In the second game of the double header, 2007 tournament champions LTI led 25-6 at half time against Multi and displayed their team chemistry to secure the win.

Travis Leitch had a game high 13 points for LTI and while none of the Multi players were able to meet double figures, Clifton Alley had six points.

The tournament will continue Wednesday with New Silver City Secondary coming up against Wisburg Secondary and defending champions McKenzie High  facing Multi.
