Fahaad, Harris anxious for ‘Big Bad Man’ clash

In boxing they say that size really doesn’t matter, it’s what you can do with your gloves and this statement will be put to the test when Holland’s Entertainment Promotions (HEP) stages a card entitled ‘Foreign Invasion 2’ at the Mckenzie Sports Club ground in Linden on May 5.

Apart from the world-rated Leon Moore and the Commonwealth-rated Shawn Corbin, who will be headlining the card, two fighters from Linden and Georgetown will be engaged in a “big throw down”.

Fahaad ‘The Linden Giant’ Ali and ‘Big Bad’ Shawn Harris are set to show fans what happens when two big men meet. Both fighters are said to be way over 300 pounds.

The fight which is currently the talk of the town in Linden was on Thursday given a boost as the fighters tried to predict a winner ahead of the bout.

“I know when two big truck crash, one does got to park and I know  this truck ain’t gun park so ‘Big Bad’ Shawn, when you come to Linden, you will have to meet with ‘Big Bad’ Fahaad,” Ali said, speaking to Stabroek Sport and throwing down the gauntlet to his opponent.

Ali also said he will not allow anyone to go into the mining town and beat him and proclaim to be “big and bad”.

When his words were relayed to Harris, the Albouystown resident said: “In boxing I only know bout one Ali being a bad man and that is Mohammed Ali. I think he getting carried away with he name. He is no Mohamed Ali, he is a Mock Ali. I will show him I am the biggest and baddest man in Guyana.”

Both fighters are taking the match-up very seriously and are in training for the clash. This will be the first time a fight of such nature is taking place and the promoter is optimistic that it will be one that boxing fans would not want to miss.

Meanwhile, also on the undercard Lindeners Cassius Matthes and Sharon Warde will be coming up against fighters from Georgetown.
