Trix Under-17 Tournament

– Conquerors victorious on opening day

A Stephon Dickson hat-trick for Uprising rocked their opponents Pele Football Club while the Fruta Conquerors were also victorious on the opening day of the George-town Football Association’s (GFA) Trix Under-17 Football Tournament at the George-town Football Club Ground (GFC), yesterday.

Uprising inflicted a four-goal whipping on Pele (5–1) in the feature match of the double header that had Fruta Conquerors thrashing Santos FC 3–1 in the curtain-raiser.
The Uprising/Pele match saw Uprising displaying better communication in the field. Their precise positioning gave them the opportunity to make better plays and then score, and although the opposition had a few good chances they were unable to finish on many occasions.

Dickson drew first blood for his team with a 12th minute strike then Pele equalized from a successful Jermaine Sutton strike in the 33rd minute.
Dickson then found two openings and made the most of it to record his double in the 44th and a hat-trick at the stroke of half time (45th).

When play resumed Uprising made it a three goal game, compliments of a brilliant header from Victor Miggins in the 48th minute, that defeated the custodian to the right.
Not long after, a Pele defender was blown for handling inside the 18 yard box that gave Uprising the opportunity to score from a penalty. This was successfully taken by Captain Marco Marcus in the 55th minute.

Fruta Conquerors’ Warren Lawrence set the bar at its highest by scoring in the first minute of the game, a goal which will undoubtedly prove to be the fastest of the tourney.

The first half ended 1–0 in Conquerors’ favour but the second half was different owing to the Pernel Scultz and Eon Allyene strikes which opened the lead in the 51st and 69th minutes respectively. Devon Glasgow(60th) was the only scorer for Santos.
